Dear Parents,
I return your child to you whom you confidently entrusted in my care; months wiser, and more mature and responsible than they were in September. I thank you for the privilege of watching them grow and helping them learn. I thank you for your hard work and cooperation throughout the year. I have learned so much from them, and they have gained much knowledge this year. They amazed me with their cooperation and positive attitudes. We have spent many days in our cozy classroom; we have learned to work together and will forever have the memories of this school year. I am proud to hand this class over to fourth grade, for they have outgrown the third grade classroom in inches and knowledge.
I wish you all a very relaxing summer. Please take the time to work with your child over the summer to ensure they retain the knowledge they have gained thus far. Below are skills to practice over the summer. 30 minutes a day will do wonders!
Math: Division/Multiplication facts, word problems. Check out the Harcourt Math website for interactive math games. http://www.harcourtschool.com/menus/math_advantage.html
Reading: Please encourage your children to read for pleasure! Have them read aloud to you and ask them questions about the story.
Writing: A summer journal is an excellent idea. They can write about what they are reading, where they are vacationing, or what they are thinking. It is a lot of fun to look back on their life events. They have proven in class that they love to write in their journals and share their thoughts.
Science/Social Studies: If you are vacationing or playing in the back yard, science and social studies are surrounding us. Look up fun facts about the places you go, it could be fun for the whole family!
Have fun learning and growing this summer! I look forward to seeing all of their smiling faces in September. Thanks again for a wonderful year, your children’s unique and pleasant personalities made each day a success!
