FEBRUARY 2012

The children will be learning about the letter Q for Queens in fairy tales. Pre-K will be listening to classic fairy tales and learning about the elements of a story, such as plot, setting and characters. These stories will be a good way for us to work on our comprehension and story sequencing skills. To coincide with this unit, the class will be going on a field trip to the Ritz Theater to see the play Beauty and the Beast.

During Quaker Studies time in class, we will be discussing history and how people have helped others. The children will be learning about some of our presidents and what they have done for our country. Also, Pre-K will be talking about some famous African-Americans, their professions and contributions to society for African-American History. And, the children will learn about the letter V for Valentine's Day, why we celebrate the ones we love on this special day, and we will have a small Valentine's Day party on Feb. 14.

For Math, the class will be gearing up for the 100th Day of School celebration on Feb. 22, weather permitting. Pre-K will be participating in various activities related to this big number. Also, they will be reinforcing their counting, sorting and number recognition skills when exploring the value of various types of money when discussing Presidents.

Have a fantastic February!
