Here’s what’s on the agenda for March

M –Minute Math, Mental Math, and Minus problems
A – Addition problems
T – Two digit addition and subtraction
H – Having lots of fun!!!
E – Estimating
M –More word problems!
A – Answering questions about distances on a map
T – Tally marks
I – Investigating regrouping in addition and subtraction
C – Coordinate Grids
S – Setting numbers in the correct order

L – Long vowels
A – Alphabetizing
N – New, more difficult stories
G –Getting information about setting, characters and plot
U – Using describing words
A – Asking questions in complete sentences
G – Great new vocabulary
E – Endings –es, -ed, -ing (changing y to I and doubling the final letter)

A – Adding poetry to our already large collection
R – Reality vs. fantasy in stories
T – Theme writing
S – Saying hi with a friendly letter

In Science we will investigate the world of Dinosaurs, and in Social Studies we will learn about the traditions associated with St. Patrick’s Day and the welcome arrival of Spring.

During the month of March, in Spanish, the first graders will be introduced to vocabulary associated with the house and rooms found in the house.  They will work on a review of the common colors as well as a review of the numbers from zero to thirty.
